Awareness Tips by Category
Safe Online Banking & UPI
  • Always type your bank URL directly — never use links from messages
  • Check for HTTPS and padlock icon before entering credentials
  • Set daily UPI transaction limits in your payment app settings
  • Register for SMS or email alerts for every bank transaction
  • If you suspect fraud, immediately call your bank helpline and block your card
  • Never scan a QR code to receive money — QR codes only send money, not receive it
Social Media Safety
  • Set your social media profiles to private — control who sees your content
  • Do not accept friend requests from unknown people
  • Be cautious of fake or unverified profiles on social media platforms
  • Never share your location, daily routine or travel plans publicly
  • Report and block accounts involved in harassment or cybercrime to the platform and authorities immediately
Protecting Children Online
  • Keep computers and tablets in common areas — not in children's bedrooms
  • Use parental control software and safe search settings
  • Teach children to never share personal information online with strangers
  • Encourage open communication — children should feel safe reporting issues to you
  • Report child exploitation content to cybercrime.gov.in immediately
Safety for Senior Citizens
  • Bank officials, police or govt departments NEVER ask for OTP or PIN over phone
  • If you get a call about a family member in trouble asking for money — always verify first
  • Do not be pressured into quick decisions — fraudsters create urgency deliberately
  • Ask a trusted family member to verify any unusual request before acting
Government Employee Data Security
  • Never use personal email for official communications — use only official govt email IDs
  • Lock your computer screen whenever you step away from your desk
  • Do not connect personal USB drives or unknown devices to govt computers
  • Do not share sensitive files on personal WhatsApp groups
  • Report any suspected breach or suspicious activity to your IT department immediately
